Sequenza is the name borne by fourteen compositions for solo instruments or voice by Luciano Berio. The fifth  composition of the series was written for trombone and is a substantial contribution to the repertoire.  In addition to honoring Berio, our name translates to "sequence", something that occurs frequently in music of all styles. The trombone quartet repertoire provides many examples of sequence, employing four equal voices that must play in the same style and with seamless elision.
